Title: DVB Tuning Issue - btjr and jasva
Post by: btjr on May 23, 2019, 04:44:13 pm
Hauppauge WinTV-quadHD tuners no longer work for me on JRiver 25 (25.0.40) when upgrading to the Windows 10 Build 1903, May update.  I have the latest Hauppauge drivers installed through the May 2nd release of WinTV 8.5, which installs drivers as the first part of the install.  The tuner continues to work fine in Hauppauge's WinTV application, but ceases to work in JRiver 25 after the Windows 10 Build 1903 upgrade.  I'm hoping JRiver will release a fix soon.  I don't know if other TV Tuners are affected, but I was able to replicate the WinTV-quadHD problem on several systems.

Please try Hauppauge for information on that problem.  If a Microsoft update broke our support for the device, it may be a driver issue or a Microsoft bug.

It is likely a Microsoft issue.

During the last couple of months I have been trying Windows 10 Insider edition and had trouble getting TV tuners to work.  Yesterday after an automatic Windows update, I tried again and found the TV tuner working!

Microsoft is having a lot of problems with their camera drivers in release 1903. And in many cases even there Hello Face cameras are no longer working.

Ref:  Hauppauge WinTV-QuadHD tuner issue with MC 25.

After a lot of communications with Microsoft and Hauppauge, the issue where running J River MC 25 has the lack of being unable to view live TV channels continues under Microsoft's 1903 update to Windows 10.   I have faithfully updated all the affected software from all three companies to see if the issue was fixed through some update.  I have tested on several different PCs.

I still get "waiting for signal lock" followed by "no signal" when I try to access any channel.  If I reinstall MC 25 fresh, I can't find any channels over the air (ATSC) during the set up channel scan.

So, until something causes this issue to be fixed, I will be using Hauppauge WinTV 8.5 and NextPVR 4.2.4 applications.  Now, MC 25 only has audio use for me as TV is completely nonfunctional as described above.   So, three companies, Microsoft, Hauppauge, and J River, and the interplay between their software has resulted in this problem where all three companies do not feel their software caused the issue.  Due to this, I'm out of ideas and attempts to investigate.

Hello,

I have similar problem. Without any change from my side, television in JRiver MC 24.0.75 disappear. I have Hauppauge WinTV DualHD DVB tuner.

When i fully deleted all TV config, restart and search for channels again, i am able to find all TV programs, but no one is running - just "locking" and no signal after.
When I have tested WinTV, everything working fine = so HW is OK.

Any idea what should help?

Windows 10 Home v.1903

Most likely this issue was caused by Microsoft. Windows 10 1903 broke some TV support in MC.

We have found a fix for it, but it is only available in MC25.

Fully reinstalled to 25 and situation is different, but is not better.

1) I am able to search tv channels ... looks correct DBT and DBT-2
2) EPG is found only for DBT-2, but with wrong local characters
3) DBT programs working correctly, but not in cinema mode (because  there is not EPG program)
4) DBT-2 radio is working
5) DBT-2 tv is not working, with one exception - when I am switching from DBT-2 radio to DBT-2 TV I am able to listen sound (video is missing). Starting TV first, Error message is “no signal”. Switching back to Radio Is still running.

J.

Sorry, I am a bit lost.  Please produce a set of logs (https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Logging) and email to me (if too large to post here).

Help > Logging, make sure logging is turned on.
Restart MC.
Run DVB-T channel scan.  Then try to play a channel that you have trouble with.
Help > Logging, Report Problem.

I fixed a bug.  Thanks Jakub for testing.

Anyone experiencing similar issue can download one of the following two DLLs (32-bit or 64-bit):

JRTelevision.dll 32-bit (https://www.dropbox.com/s/gaxsyel905n2mim/JRTelevision%2032-bit.zip?dl=0)

JRTelesion.dll 64-bit (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ksjqf8bbnzj2p04/JRTelevision%2064-bit.zip?dl=0)

Download, unzip, copy into MC25 installation folder.
