Is there some way to stop MC from stalling because a CD has been inserted - to take no notice of inserted CDs?
-
That's a Windows problem, I believe.

JRiver could use a separate process or thread for cdrom i/o so that the user interface is not blocked.

I don't know about w10 or MC. if I had more info on your set up. I do know W7 in control panel it's called AutoPlay, changing settings here should help....good luck

Thanks for the replies. The Windows setting for autoplay makes no difference. The issue is how MC operates; basically, a lack of option. The program is a Pavlov's dog when it comes to inserted music CDs.

sorry to hear it didn't work for you, it did and still does for me!

Do any of the options for autoplay under tools>options>CD,DVD&BD have any effect?

We tried making filling the audio CD in views threaded, but then people started reporting ripping problems (that we couldn't reproduce) so the change was reverted.
25.0.15 (3/20/2019)
NEW: Threaded the file gathering for CD list controls.
25.0.34 (5/2/2019)
Changed: Turned off the threaded update for CD lists to see if it helps with the CD ripping problems (please report).

Here are a couple of older threads on this subject... one from 2016, one from 2018... Neither have a solution, but they might contain information that is useful...

This also happens when inserting a Blu-Ray, just FYI. I've been ripping a few of my new purchases for my HTPC using MakeMKV and every time I put a new disk in, JRiver hangs for 10-20 seconds while it analyses a disc I don't want it to do anything with. Very annoying.
