Has anyone notice it now works?
Last used MC 90159 - no go.
Downloaded MC 90168 and TV runs fine. (no rename or unreg. of file)
So I assume Yaobing fix the prob. with MC and the avbisurf.ax file.(since there were no changes on my sys.)
So a big THANKS to Yaobing.

Well, I have not specifically made an effort on this particular problem, but some other changes may have accidentally fixed it.
Thanks for letting us know.
There would still be a crash if you try to enable closed captioning. For people who want to use closed captioning, unregistering the file is still the only way to avoid a crash.

I figured out why it started to work now, and have to say it does not work well enough.
The crash was avoided because I removed an unnecessary rebuilding of graph. As soon as rebuilding of graph is attempted (for example changing certain settings in TV configuration) the program would crash.
I am sorry to say that you still have to keep that file unregistered.

You might have noticed that even though you can start TV and keep it running without a problem, you can not gracefully exit TV. As soon as you click the Stop button, the entire program is taken down - MC just disappears.
A little further investigation just confirmed my original assertion that this is a bug only ATI can fix.
I build my DirectShow graph without asking for a VBI Surface allocator. When I start running it after the graph is already built, DirectShow adds two more components from ATI automatically. All is well until I try to tear down this graph when a crash occurs.
