Title: How long do you have to wait before Auto Import finds new files?
Post by: haggis999 on November 07, 2019, 07:59:10 am
I have set up Auto Import to monitor a specific audio folder, but MC is failing to notice when I make external changes to add new files to that folder. Closing and reopening MC makes no difference.

How long should you normally have to wait before Auto Import does what its title implies?

Are your files local? I seem to remember it being quicker when my files were all on local drives than on my NAS.

Now I just hit auto import after I rip something if I want it faster.

Search this forum, there are several topics on this. My personal experience, I got tired of waiting for auto import to work, so I created two ways to easily kick off auto import- one is a button in Theater View on my Server Tv works with remote control, the other a clickable desktop shortcut on my laptop.

The files are held on a NAS box that would not have gone into hibernation mode before I lost patience and initiated this thread.

I had already searched the forum for 'Auto Import' before I posted, but none of the 50 results had subject lines that appeared to cover a delay in the Auto Import process. However, I have since found a post by RoderickGI that sheds more light on the matter.

I don't normally use Theater View, but would appreciate a more detailed description of your desktop shortcut. Does it work with media files stored on a NAS?

Desktop shortcut uses MCWS with IP of Server machine:
http://192.168.1.93:52199/MCWS/v1/Control/MCC?Command=23020

I wasn't previously aware of MCWS, but it didn't take me long to create a shortcut like yours that immediately triggered the import process (which successfully picked some more files I had just added to my NAS).

Many thanks for your help on this. It is much appreciated.
