I'm starting a new thread for questions or comments. Cloudplay is JRiver's Lossless Streaming and Radio service. It's listener supported.
The previous thread is here (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,121039.0.html).
Please post any questions or comments about CloudPlay in this thread.
For more about Cloudplay, please see:
CloudPlay Instructions and Description (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,122743.msg849885.html#msg849885)
or the Cloudplay wiki topic (https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Cloudplay).

Thanks for this great feature. What I would wish for (maybe for the MC26 wishlist?) though is the ability to play Cloudplay streams when connected as a client to another MC, including PlayDoctor integration. Currently, Cloudplay only works when connected to a local library. As it happens, I have a central MC Server and my clients connected to it, so that I can listen in whichever room I am.
Thanks, Marcus

Jim, any word on multichannel audio in cloudplay, you said to ping you a couple months back that it would be added. Haven't heard anything and it seems like every time I ask it gets ignored.
Is this being saved for v26? Would be nice to know with the current sale pricing.

It will be in the next build of MC26. It will be public by mid-December.

Thanks for the kind words.
When connected as a client, you can use Cloudplay if you're playing to the server. We hope to move functionality to clients, as well.

Great, thanks for the update.

I am trying to get Cloudplay to work, but I cannot even figure out how to register an account..
When I press Cloudplay, I get this screen in MC ?!
What am I missing?

You should see a registration link there. Scroll down?
From the wiki:
Enable "Upload to Cloud" in Tools > Options > General > Features . This is enabled by default in later builds of MC25.
Cloudplay is now in the tree on the left, just below Audio, Video, and Images.
1. Click on Cloudplay. Playlists will be displayed on the right.
Radio JRiver buttons are at the top of the Cloudplay Playlist page.
2. Register an account, preferably using the same name you use on the forum.
3. You can then upload playlists from MC > Playlists -- right click on any lossless playlist and choose "Upload to Cloud".
Only lossless playlists, mixes not CD's, 50 or so files per playlist, minimum 5 files.
Please use a descriptive name, or at least a primary artist or genre.
You may need to click on the setting icon in the upper right corner of the Cloudplay screen and check "Only show users that have uploaded content."
-
When I scroll to the bottom, it looks like this.
"Upload to Cloud" is enabled, but all I get is this webpage..
-
Oh, about the "Cloudplay screen" from the Wiki.
How do I find it, as it does not appear when I press Cloudplay in the left side menu?!
-
Is Javascript enabled?
Try this page:
https://user.jriver.com/
-
I tried that link in a browser, and it works..
Then I tried opening a new tab in MC, and pressing Cloudplay again. This for some unknown reason opens the correct Cloudplay page, but the first tab did not. Really odd...

I'm old school, this is certainly my favorite feature, and a great selling point. The amount of music I've NEVER heard is astounding! Love Cloudplay!

I must be even more old school, because I am still trying to figure out how to use it ?
Searching for playlists with specific music, and selecting a track is not easy, I think.

You can only play playlists or listen to a Radio JRiver station. Our license doesn't allow playing tracks on demand.
-
Ahh.. That explains it, thanks for clearing that up for me.
Would it be possible to add more search functionality, so that it is possible to search for playlists with specific genres?

Hello,
I have bought the new MC 26.0.14 (64bit) and I am currently integrating the Cloudplay function.
The search in the upper left corner (see my jpg-file) does not work for me. If I e.g. enter an artist, I get the message "Firefox can not connect to the server under localhost:52199".
Does the search work for somebody?

That's possible now. Just use the search window and enter your genre.
-
I cannot get the cloudplay screen to exit or go away even if I shut down MC. It comes back on startup, any ideas?

Can you not click on Audio in the tree on the left, for example?
Check the Startup section in your MC options.

Cloudplay is now working with some JRiver remotes (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,124186.0.html).

I've saved a number of cloudplay playlists under playlists tree and have given star ratings to many of the individual songs therein.
I notice that those ratings go away after I close and re-open JRiver. I understand that rating the global playlists on cloudplay should not be done by individual listeners, but should ratings be allowed when those global cloudplay playlists are then saved to our local playlists?
Related: Is there a way for JRiver to auto-create a playlist from just the cloudplay songs that I've rated 4 or 5 stars?
Thanks,
Ari

So is it not possible to add files to an already uploaded playlist?
I uploaded a playlist and a song failed to upload. I just want to add the failed song to the playlist. I don't want to have to reupload the whole playlist again because it took hours(Hi Res 5.1 files)
-
Upload the playlist again. If the name doesn't change, only the missing song will be uploaded.
-
Seems to be working. Thank you. I was worried that it would try to reupload every single file.

Running 26.0.69
Is the sort order in Cloudplay determined by the order in which it was originally uploaded?
Can the owner of a Cloudplay playlist change the sort order that shows when others view the playlist after it has been uploaded?
I noticed the playlist I uploaded shows under Playlists >> Cloudplay Playlists and I can change the order, but pressing Update Order doesn't change the order on Cloudplay as I expected it to.
I noticed lock hides a few icons...does it have any impact on the uploaded files in Cloudplay?

Yes.
Can the owner of a Cloudplay playlist change the sort order that shows when others view the playlist after it has been uploaded?
Not unless they upload it again. The person playing the list could change whether it was shuffled or not.

No.

Have been listening to a good deal of Cloudplay lately, has been a really nice feature.
As above, is it possible for users who download a playlist from cloudplay to their own local playlists to be able to assign star ratings to the tracks (locally)? When I do this those local star ratings don't persist after MC restart.
Running 26.0.30
Thank you again,
Ari

I don't think that is supported. It's a reasonable thing to expect.

How can i hide downloaded Cloudplay Playlists albums from appearing on screens/listings under Audio / "Albums", "Artists&Albums" etc.
This is a problem as I think it is still important to keep local and remote (Cloud) music files separately.

Try updating MC. That's an old problem that should be fixed.
-
Sorry Jim but It is not fixed. i am a big fan of Cloudplay so i have ignored it. With all the time on my hands recently i updated/edited my music database. All the RadioJRiver files do take away from the view with all the music notes instead of coverart. The way i fixed it is in Theater View and Standard view under Audio Artists and Albums I set up a rule for file display "filename does not contain RadioJRiver". I am using the latest version of JRiver.
-
What is the full version?
-
26.0.80
-
I just downloaded a playlist from Cloudplay and it showed up under Playlists\Cloudplay Playlists but the tracks aren't imported.
Searching my Audio views doesn't return anything.
This is what I expect. I wonder what might be different?
-
Left over from a previous version?
It's safe to delete them.
-
My apologies. i typically read all the updates when they come out and i check the questions asked daily on the forum. i dont recall seeing anything regarding that they could be deleted. i obviously overlooked it. They are from an previous version and thanks for letting me know that they can be deleted.

Split Nvidia Shield and Cloudplay (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,126035.0.html).

When I do MC27 Cloud Play or radio via Media server, my Marantz AV8801 shows MP3 320kbps, even when the source is flac. So I think I am hearing a compressed file. Is there any way to hear with the original flac playing? I have tried with the suggested generic media server, and with the built in Windows 10 media player, which supports flac.
Or do I need to go HDMI from my laptop to Marantz AV8801 for play flac without conversion?
Thanks,
David
-
If you're using Media Server and DLNA to play to the Marantz, you can set the conversion in MC under Media Network.

What is the purpose of the Buy and Download Columns in the Cloudplay playlists? It always seems to be blank. Is this for future purposes?
