Title: Gain Structure and JRiver
Post by: jjkale on November 11, 2019, 07:38:46 pm
I know it was recommended in another thread that Clip Protection should never be turned off; is this correct?  Alternatively, can the user select the Flatline option and monitor a selection of tracks to maximize the output without going over 100%?
Also in the DSP Studio is there a difference between adjusting the gain in the Parametric Equalizer vs. adjusting the volume in Room Correction?  And for that matter, adjusting the volume slider?
Overall is it reasonable practice to run JRiver as hot as possible without clipping to send to DAC?
Thanks very much.

What is the benefit of clipping vs using a limiter? If you don't clip then either way makes no difference after all.

Should be no difference no matter where the volume adjustment is made

Hot out and attenuate downstream is one way to reduce impact of noise
