Title: DSP settings and Cambridge 851n
Post by: scol78 on December 01, 2019, 03:04:41 pm
Running MC25 and a networked Cambridge 851n .Ive left all my dsp settings as default ,is this correct or am I missing out on a better output.
I really don’t want to dabble with the settings as I’m not to sure what I’m doing.Do I need to add a driver so the dsp can see my Cambridge streamer ?

The DSP setup for a networked device - DLNA - is done from the Media Network tab under Tools -> Options.

I'm assuming you went in here to set up the streaming connectivity to begin with. Have a look at the Wiki entry on DLNA to get a grasp of the options.

https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/DLNA

What sort of files are you sending? If they are lossless (flac etc) then just make sure you are not converting to MP3 or other lossy formats if you are concerned about audio quality.

Also have a look at Andrew's Whitebear Analysis tool, it can provide recommendations on the various settings.

My main DLNA endpoint device is a Cambridge CXR120 which I believe uses the same StreamMagic platform as the 851n. Works beautifully with MC25.

ok when I get home I'll grab the settings for my CXR and let you know. They work well for me and should align, but are audio only.

What sort and type of files are you sending?

So for my Cambridge device I don't have any of the options ticked under "DLNA Controller Options" and  in "Add or Configure DLNA Servers" have the Audio mode set to "Original" and the format is "PCM L16 no header" and under Advanced I have the first 4 options checked.

My audio library is in FLAC.

Do you have your set up connected to streamer via network or USB ?

Setup is networked. DLNA over home Ethernet.
