When I try to play live or recorded TV in either MC25 or 26 on our Windows 7 machine I get the error message: "Invalid Audio decoder or output pin".
I've tried setting the audio device to Default Audio Device [Direct Sound], Realtek High Definition Audio [WASAPI] and Realtek High Definition Audio [Direct Sound] (all the options offered) none of which makes any difference.
Also, when I try to play images the image display is blank and the name of the image file doesn't change.
Widows 7 Home Premium.
(Everything's fine on our Windows 10 machine but the Windows 7 one has hardware features better suited to a media center :()

You're better off upgrading to Windows 10 than trying to fix problems on Windows 7.
Windows 7 goes end-of-life in four weeks.

I don't want to spend £200 upgrading to Windows 10 only to find it's a hardware problem on that machine.

Well, that's the kicker, you can still upgrade Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 machines to Windows 10 for free if you desire.

Wild guesses at the issue here, do you have the output device plugged into the wrong jack? Also what kind of files are you trying to play?

That's good to know, thank you!Wild guesses at the issue here, do you have the output device plugged into the wrong jack?
No, I was using the internal speaker. Also what kind of files are you trying to play?
.jtv files, but I shall also want to play .wtv and if possible .dvr-ms ones.
