I have MC 26 running on two computers (either as client/server or as two independent PCs). MC only shows up in Windows 10 "Select Playback Device' on one of the two PCs. How do I get it to show up as a playback device?
-
Not entirely sure what you mean by Windows 10 "Select Playback Device', but if you are referring to the JRiver WDM driver this is enabled from Media Center by going into Tools>Options>General>Features>WDM driver after which you need to restart MC.

Yes, sorry if my question wan't clear. I'm talking about the 'speaker' symbol down in the right-hand corner of the Windows screen (on the task bar near the date and time). When you click it, it shows up 'Select Playback Device'. This might include the internal speakers of the computer itself and also the name of a DAC. I can't get one of my two PCs to show 'JRiver Media Center'. One of my computers shows it as 'JRiver Media Center 24' even though I am using version 26, but that doesn't matter. The point is this: if it shows 'MC' at all then I can play a streaming service through MC. On the PC that doesn't show 'MC', a streaming service doesn't play through JRiver at all. So there must be something I have not checked on that computer.

Did you check to see if the WDM driver is enabled in MC on the system that does not work?
Tools>Options>General>Features>WDM driver
-
Yes, forgot to mention that--I already tried that and restarted.

Same problem for me, reported here:

Never got such problem so far with WDM driver.

WDM has to be active for Windows to see MC as a sound device.
-
Is there something more to do to make WDM active than ticking the option in the "features" sub-menu?

Try running MC as an administrator when enabling it under Features.
-
Thank you!
No change... I have unticked the option, restarted as administrator, ticked again, restarted. The WDM audio driver is not visible from Windows.
What puzzle me is that I never got this issue previously with MC24 or MC25...

Yeah, this is a mystery...especially since (as mentioned) it shows up in Windows 10 'Select Playback Device' on one computer but not the other (both running MC 26) and I can't see any reason why.

Yep, I have exactly the same problem...gone through all the usual routines to get the WDM driver working...untick, shutdown, restart, tick....always worked with previous updates but not with MC26. Uninstalled MC26 and went back to MC25 and WDM driver is working fine and MC25 can be selected in Windows.

Solved it! Disconnected my DAC, ticked WDM, and MC 25 shows up in 'Select Playback Device'. Then reconnected the DAC. The trick seemed to have been disconnecting the DAC whilst ticking/unticking WDM in Tools>Options>General>Features
