Title: Cannot install the licence
Post by: Talisker69 on January 08, 2020, 12:36:39 pm
Hi Folks,
When I tried to install my licence, I have an error message "Cannot contacting the license server"
Is there something wrong on the backoffice ?
I'm using Mint 19.3 Tricia with a Linux 26 License

Have you tried installing the license via the .mjr install key file and the Terminal?

I had the same on both my Fedora Desktops and I have also updated my docker image to 26. Both won't activate with the key. Same error message.

.mjr file worked fine on Fedora. Did not try to activate the docker container with any other method yet.

The firewall is off
Still the same error
What is the process for using the mjr file ?

On my Fedora machine it looks like this

Code: [Select]
ls -la "/usr/lib/jriver/MC26"**/
lrwxrwxrwx.  1 root root      34 Jan  6 22:13 ca-certificates.crt -> /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt

ls -la "/etc/ssl/certs"**/
lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root   49 Jul 24 21:48 ca-bundle.crt -> /etc/pki/ca-trust/extracted/pem/tls-ca-bundle.pem
lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root   55 Jul 24 21:48 ca-bundle.trust.crt -> /etc/pki/ca-trust/extracted/openssl/ca-bundle.trust.crt
lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root   49 Dec  9  2018 ca-certificates.crt -> /etc/pki/ca-trust/extracted/pem/tls-ca-bundle.pem

The docker container is debian9 and ca-certificates are installed.

Same problem for me trying to install the License from the player ( "Cannot contacting the license server") on Linux Mint 19.3. Tried from the shell with mediacenter26 /RestoreFromFile <mediacenter 26 master file.mjr> and I get this new/different error

"error: expired license file or time/date error
CRegistrationHelper::RestoreFromFile: bInstalledOk is false, error = Unknown Error"

I have paid for all licenses for years and I think it was last year, or maybe 2018, I have been buying/using master licenses without problems until this latest release? Date/time is also correct. The same licence works fine on my Windows machines or the media server (Windows 10) it runs on. I even tried renaming the mjr file without spaces (license.mjr) and got the same error. Strange

Any ideas?

UPDATE:

PEBKAC error (user). I did not realise the .mjr files are time-limited and had used on old one. Did a restore for a current mjr file and it worked fine from the shell. Just not from the software itself under licensing. :)

All good now.

Just bought the Android app so looking forward to trying it out

I tried to another linux box Mint 19.2 Tara, it works
I check the certificate on the other machine every seem to be ok, but maybe is something around certificate because Cloudplay doesn't work "not yet available on this platform"

Maybe I find something by launching Media Center from the shell. I have the following error :
JRWeb: error while loading shared libraries: libcef.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory ipc server no longer running
Do you know how I can solve that ?

I find a workaround, by re-install mediacenter 25 with MC26 it's working I can install the licence and every is working.
I think there is something missing in MC26 package .

Very odd, can't reproduce that in any of my installs. Hmmm.

libcef, oddly enough, is the Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) library. Maybe something's broken there?

Maybe is something that is removed when you removed MC25 ?
Have you try to install MC 25, remove it, install MC26 ?

In my tests, I fully removed MC25 before installing MC26 and it just worked. Odd.

That certificate issue needs to be fixed so MC can download its components (like the chromium plugin).
You can simply change the symlink in /usr/lib/jriver/Media Center 26/ca-certificates.crt to point to the local copy there and re-run MC. It should then try to download the component. This will take a while and there is no progress indication while that's happening.
