Serious Download Manager problem. In build 164 and 165 downloaded files are not renamed and probably connected to this, they don't go into an artists folder and album folder. This is not really usable this way. Please look into this, Matt.

Bug:
it's been around a while, with multiple output devices configured under different zones, volume control will only affect windows default sound device, so volume control has no impact on other devices.
for example, I have 2 USB audio outputs (imic and minidisc thing) and built in sound card. each in it's own zone. windows default sound device is set to sound card, thus volume control only works for the sound card on it's respective zone.
used to work under MJ8.

The scrollbar weirdness in skins is working as expected now.
The world is now safe for democracy and life is good.
Thanks.

When playing a video file, clicking on the options window or right clicking has a definite long lagg before bringing up the right click menu.
right clicking and holding down the button does not bring up the menu, it has to be released before the menu appears.

BUG:
Installed MC on this computer and on another one on the server.
Imported al the files into this MC and started media server.
Then went to the other machine and did auto locate servers, this displays two servers for me to select (Both on same machine but with different ports (80 and 81)).
Trying to connect to either fails and so does entering this machines IP address and port to create a new library.
This machine shows nothing for media server log.
04/30/03 22:17:30 - Started auto response thread on port 5556.
04/30/03 22:17:32 - bad port <>
04/30/03 22:17:32 - tcp_write failed error=10038
04/30/03 22:17:32 - bad version
04/30/03 22:17:33 - Stopped auto response thread.
I get the above text when I click on 'stop sharing' though on Media server on this machine?

Hairstyle mode:
I've started playing with this a lot more now as I'm setting MC up on several systems as the Media Center literally for controlling it via TV, remotely etc and so have been trying to sort it.
Right now in hairstyle mode it has everything as a thumbnail. I dont want thumbnails, I want a big list of all the files instead, how do I do this? The thumbnails are truncating all the file names that are too long and this is no use. I just want anice clear list of files I can go up and down easily and select from.
Is it possible? If not, it NEEDS to be to make hairstyle more functional.
It will also hopefully hugely speed up navigating the hairstyle mode.
Here are two screen shots to emphasize what I mean:
http://www.hostnila.com/temp/01.JPG
http://www.hostnila.com/temp/02.JPG
Another thing - there needs to be an easy option to download ALL components and save them somewhere.
Both the machines I am setting up are not going to have internet access and so I need to be able to easily download all the components and save them to a disk so I can install them straight off and have the machines set up ready to set up.

DSP Studio
Equalizer Plugin (maybe others, but not tested)
Clicking the '+' icon creates duplicate profiles of the same name.
Of course, now that I think about it, this may be a feature, not a bug. :) But you should at least append an ordinal value to the end, like Classical 1, Classical 2, etc.
I didn't know what the '+' and '-' did, so I clicked the '+' like fifteen times (since it didn't seem to be doing anything) before I realized I now had sixteen profiles all entitled "Classical." :o
Also, while we are on the subject, you should include a way to reset all the sliders to 0 dB, or at least a "Default" profile with everything set to 0 dB. (After the first change, you lose this forever if you didn't save it yourself [which I didn't].) There is absolutely no visual or textual feedback of a slider's current, exact value, and I like to have confidence that a particular frequency band is not getting adjusted even in the slightest way.

Today's build is the worst yet for me and auto rip. After I insert the second CD nothing happens. It just hangs for minutes. When I hit done it tries to get the art for the first CD. I have seen this 3 times in a row so far.

This build, unlike all prior MC9 builds, has proven to be very crashy for me. It sometimes crashes when I simply bring up the track info dialog (i.e. select track, hit alt-enter). It also seems to always crash when I attempt to install a plug-in--right after packageinstaller.exe has downloaded the plugin ZIP file, and should be opening it.

I'm a registered user for long and really like the programm. I installed all updates from 90088 up to 90165. And now I'm really frustated. I had two libraries (Pop and Classic) in 90164 in two different directories. And I backup-ed them before upgrading to 90165. Now it is impossible to load the classic database. It is also impossible to restore the classic-backup file. Any help?
-
The merge button in the library manager no longer exists. The help file still says to merge libraries this way. Is there another way to merge libraries now?

Please send the library backup to matt @ jriver.com (no spaces)
If we can reproduce the problem, it will be fixed right away.

Yeah, I was kind of wondering what happened to that. It was one of "my" features... :(

Today's build is the worst yet for me and auto rip. After I insert the second CD nothing happens. It just hangs for minutes.
I'm trying to reproduce this problem. If you can tell me the exact sequence that you follow during the auto-rip process and some of your settings, I can probably get it fixed.
The settings I need are:
1. In the "encoding" settings dialog, which encoder is selected, is "rip and encode simultaneously" checked, is "normalize" checked?
2. in the "devices settings" dialog, is "enable on-line cd lookup" checked? I assume the "ask every time" checkbox for audio CD's is unchecked.
3. from the "devices settings" dialog under "advanced ripping settings", which checkboxes are checked for "auto rip cd database lookup options"?
4. Is the "auto-run" feature enabled in WinXP on your machine? In other words, do you get a pop-up dialog every time you insert a CD asking what to do with it?
When I hit done it tries to get the art for the first CD.
This is the correct behavior.
Thanks!
John T.

This maybe expected behavior... but I noticed that Media Server does not "auto-sync" with the MC library...
- Start Media Server
- Start MC
- Remove some files from the library
- Goto TiVo (that's what I use with the MS)
- Browse by location and you should be able to find files you deleted....
In my example I removed all files on my iPod from the library, so I browsed to that drive letter and still saw all the files listed.... If you close and restart Media Server it no longer attempts to host the files I removed from the library.

1) Monkey extra high quality. Rip an encode as well as delete temp are checked. Normalize is not.
2) online lookup is checked. ask everytime was checked, but it was not ever asking... I unchecked it... tried again nothing changed.
3) if no matches are found and show failure messages are checked.
4) auto-run has been both on and off. It now is off.
Process is put in a cd. Click rip cd. When rip window opens click auto-rip. after first cd ejects inser second cd. wait for several minutes nothing happens... click done. popup for cover art shows up followed by secure rip report.
Thanks for continuing to look into this.

Media Center hangs on playback periodically under the following conditions:
1. MC running as mini-me, playing a list of mp3 files.
3. Hit pause button.
4. Leave it paused for a while. (several minutes)
5. Hit play button.
At this point, playback of track will continue, but within one second the application will freeze, and playback will stop. When this happens, I've been forced to kill the process and restart it.
I know that I've seen the problem with mini-me, but I don't know for certain that this happens ONLY with mini-me. It may have also happened with mega-me, but I can't recall any specific occurances. I'll try to reproduce it with mega-me.
Also, this is not new behavior that appeared with version 165. I've been seeing this for a while now, with several different versions of the application.

9.0.165 still has the audio analyze memory leak. However, the ameliorating change starting in .164 does help. The analyzing did stop after a few errored files, and this kept Media Center from 'running away', using up all of the memory, and expanding the swap file. Good job on that! Now, I'm not afraid to start a bunch of files and leave it running.
Errors started at about 375 files. I don't know exactly how many errored, but the size of Media Center went up to about 55MB before it stopped the madness.
Thanks for the change that 'stops the madness' before it goes too far :) Good luck finding the real culprit.

Renaming-Bug might delete your files:
I have a problem with 'Library Tools\Rename Files From Properties'. The rule i used for the filename was
[ARTIST]-[ALBUM]-[TRACK#]-[NAME].
After using it my file had a name of e.g.
'Pat Travers-Blues Tracks-[TRACK#]-[NAME]'
instead of
'Pat Travers-Blues Tracks-01-Memory Pain'.
I figured out why this had happened. Using the options dialog 'configure library fields' I had changed the display of the library fields for 'Track #' and 'Name' to simply '#' and Title'.
So i tried to rename the files again now using the rule
'[ARTIST]-[ALBUM]-- -[Title]'
and it worked correctly naming the file as it should be!
Since i changed only the display of the library fields it shouldn't have any influences on the filename rule.
Also there are other options of MC9 where 'Track#' and 'Name' still works.
I don't think it's a minor annoyance but a bug because if you aren't carefull you can end up deleting (overwriting) all the files you are trying to rename.
