Title: framerates
Post by: maid on January 23, 2020, 08:55:03 pm
Hi I have got some tv at 50fps and the panning on them is terrible.

Do I need to manually update madvr?

Nothing has changed on this computer except windows updates of course

Absolutely not.

Share a short clip from one of the files, if you can trim it without remuxing it, or if it is a TV recording and you can still produce a small recording with the issue, share that. Put the recording on a Cloud site and share a link to it.

Testing some files as we speak if these are the same I will do that.

Thanks

cant do a clip as the file plays fine for minitues then as they start panning it makes me feel sick lol.

I think jriver is having issues with 50fps

If these are TV recordings, what channel are they from?

It is more likely madVR is having issues with interlacing than with 50fps.

Have you customised madVR settings? I know you have in the past, but don't know if you are still using customised settings.

I have not customized my settings. I think a long time ago I had the same as you. left everything alone.
someone gave me the show I tested it in media info to get the framerate

Does Media Info say it is Interlaced or Progressive?

Given that the file name includes the word "failed" at the end, I think you have a bad file.

Is there another software i can use to give more info

Media Info is fine.

I'm afraid I don't know why you are seeing issues with the 50fps content. I only have a few 50fps movies, recorded from OTA TV and in TS format rather than MKV, but they play fine.

Maybe search the forum for similar threads. I think there have been some. I haven't looked though.

Depending on settings, its possible that your system is simply overwhelmed by 50 fps. Processing 50 frames per second is twice as much work as processing 25 frames per second (naturally!), so its entirely possible to run into performance issues if you are using higher-quality madVR settings.

Using default setting on madvr and I thought the system was powerful enough to play 50 fps. ? ?

Is the problem on your HTPC or your Workstation?

If it is on the PC as per your signature, it should be powerful enough. i.e. "Intel Core i5-4590 CPU,  Haswell Gen2,  LGA1150, 3.3GHz 6 DDR3/ 2x PCIE3.0 x16 16gb Ram Windows 10 64 bit Asus Z97-DELUXE ATX Motherboard Nvidia GForce gtx1080 Receiver Onkyo TX-NR925 TV LG LF6300 55" smart TV".

My old Workstation can play 50fps fine, although it does have an i7 processor, it is ten years old. i.e. Intel i7 960 3.20 GHz, Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 Rev. 1.0, Corsair CMD12GX3M6A1600C8 (6x2GB) DDR3, Sapphire HD5870 Vapor-X 1GB.

Play one of the videos, open the madVR Debug OSD display, and see if frames are being dropped, or queues are emptying, that the video is playing at 50Hz, etc. See image of what my Workstation example.

Those specs are on the HTPC a dedicated movie playing system, not my workstationpc.

how do I open  the madVR Debug OSD display

Play the movie, press Ctrl+J.

Check that, then jump to the bad part of the movie and check there.

If the problem is only on your workstation, what are its specs?

With the movie playing, press "Windows logo key  + Shift + S", then drag the cursor around the area to copy, then open the Snipping Tool from the Windows Action pane (or click on the popup when you copy), then save that as a file with the floppy disk icon.
