Title: Shield doesn't see any libraries

a few versions ago (before exoplayer), I could load my library, but it wouldn't play video...now neither shield even sees the library.

You might try going into the app's settings (in Android) and clearing the data for the app to reset it, it might fix it for you.

Yeah. Tried that.  For other reasons, I even factory reset one of my Shields. Nothing seems to help.  My PC will find it though, so not sure.
