Title: Home videos showing up as TV Shows with Season and Episode Numbers
Post by: imeric on March 27, 2020, 02:32:16 pm
This is an old issue. https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,116915.msg808598.html#msg808598 (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,116915.msg808598.html#msg808598) https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,109320.msg757026.html#msg757026 (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,109320.msg757026.html#msg757026)

Any way I can have MC26 stop renaming imported video files as TV shows and stop tagging them as TV Show under the Media Sub type?

thx

I put all of my home video type files into a folder called home videos and set up an auto import rule for this folder telling it to set the media sub type to home Video.

Yes I know... And this is what I'm saying in one of my other posts. The problem is all this work is lost when importing those same files WITH the sidecar files on another PC.

The sidecar file is not read even if I'M forcing an "update library from tags" so I need to do this work allover again on the other PCs...

MC is going out of his way to add Season, series and episode numbers...I'm sure it's there for a reason but a user should be able to disable this behaviour AND the sidecar file should be read on import if present.

Thx

Sidecar files are supposed to be read if they exist next to the file being imported. There is a priority given to the source of metadata that MC uses. Something like Tags > Sidecar file > Removed Database. But I'm not sure where CARNAC falls in that sequence, or Tag on Import.

Glynor has written quite a bit about this over time. See if you can find his explanation.
