Hello, Is there a way to edit music properties in MC without changing the underlying flac file.
For example when I change say a Genre or an Album name using MC the flac music file gets changed too.
The problem with that is I then have to redo my precious backups of my music files, which might involve many hundreds of music files.
thanks,

Explore the tagging setting:
Options > General > Importing & Tagging > Update tags while file info changes
-
Thanks Matt, I understood that to be one way only ❓
For example if I did my Tagging in Tag n Rename, I want the changes to be updated in MC.✔
My concern is in the other direction.
I need to tag files within MC but not update the flac/mp3 music file, please.

If you disable that setting, changes can be made in MC but they are not written to the file. That sounds like what you're asking for.

Oh it says when Importing. The files are already in the MC library.
I'll try a few and see.....

Sorry, NOt what I want.
It immediately changed the music file date, which in turn will cause the backup program to select it and update the backup files.
I want the properties held within the MC library and not to keep on updating my music file.

I just turned the option off, changed some of my APE files, and nothing changed on disk.
Then I turned the option on, changed the information back, and it wrote to disk.

Sorry Matt, I just turned the option off. :-X
Too eager.
Next Time I shall not only read your instructions ....but carry them out.
Thanks for being there to help me 👍🤧🎈
