Title: JRiver App Playlists not on Samsung S8
Post by: mstalvey on May 14, 2020, 12:10:26 pm
I have the JRiver app on my Samsung S8. It loaded all my songs but I don't see playlists. Are playlists enabled?

Which JRiver app are you referring to? What file format are the playlists? If you're referring to JRiver for Android you may need to manually import the folder the playlists are in.

My version of the JRiver for Android is 26.0.35 64-bit. I went through the exercise just now of trying to import the playlists but it did not seem to work.

What format are the playlists? If the playlists are .pla it won't import them.

They indeed are .pla
I had imported these playlists into my desktop JRiver program from iTunes some time ago. Is there a way to change this?

You can export playlists from Media Center and transfer them over to your phone. Smartlists are probably the easiest because they don't require any extra work. You just export them, transfer them to the phone, and import them. Otherwise, you can export the playlists as m3u m3u8 or mpl and JRiver for Android can import them. However, with those formats, you need to make sure the paths to the files in the playlists matches where the files are on your phone.

Another option is finding an app that would allow you to export or convert the .pla to a supported playlist format. This is probably the most efficient option.

Is there a way to set up MC so that any playlist I make is automatically created in one of those formats?

Am I correct in assuming that what you're doing is connecting your phone to Media Center and syncing playlists to your phone?

That's exactly what I've been doing.

When you go to sync a playlist, click the options button. On the left side of the options menu, under Files, Paths, & More, make sure Write custom playlist files is checked.
