My 10 Year old iMac died last week, it was used as my JRiver player into a usb Dac. Therefore I need a new Source. I’m thinking about a laptop. It will only be used for JRiver playing music
And DbPowerAmp for Ripping. What processor is sufficient for my needs, Celeron, Pentium or i3, 4 or 8 Gb of Ram.
Cheers Craig.

It depends on your needs, but since you're playing back just music honestly any modern CPU as long as it's not an ARM CPU should suffice. As for RAM, in my opinion more is always better but these days I'd recommend at least 8GB minimum.
If you're doing anything like PCM to DSD (or DSD to PCM) conversions, you'll probably want a mid-range CPU as those are very resource intensive tasks.

I don’t have any Hi-Rez, just cd Rips. The last version of Windows I used was Windows 7, it used very little Ram During playback, I don’t have much experience with Windows 10, hence the Ram Question.
Cheers Craig

I run MC on a single Haswell core with 1GB of RAM in the cloud. Granted, no local playback but a library with ~100,000 files takes about 450MB of RAM.
