Title: Moving to new computer
Post by: alexppg on June 11, 2020, 05:20:46 pm
JRiver friends,   I need some advice.  I am ready to move to a new computer.   Old and new computers are running the same windows (v10) as well as JRiver Media Center (v26.0.80 - 64bit) versions.   Both will also have the same mapping to the music files (external drive M:).

What configuration files do I move so the new machine inherits all my specific changes, formats that I have implemented in the old machine?

In other words, is there a way that when I start the new computer’s MC the first time it all looks identical to the old computer MC?

Thanks

If you copy these two directories: (including subdirectories)
%Appdata%\roaming\j river\media center 26
Program files\j river\media center 26

And do a library backup on the old pc, and restore with settings on the new pc, that should get it done.

It won't be "first time" because you will have to do a library restore, as I said.  And if you're doing a new install one the new pc, you will have to activate/register MC.

No, they have different names as I will pass the old one down and will live on the same network.  Thought they needed to be different.   Is this an issue?
