Title: Playlists Database?
Post by: marko on June 27, 2020, 04:19:48 am
From an "all files" view, entering:
Code: [Select]
[=dblocation()]=playlist into the search bar returns around 1600 files imported between 2003 and 2015.

895 of those, a range of audio, video and image, do not appear on any playlist.

Build 26.0.49 had this change:
4. Changed: Files from a playlist import now are imported into the main database (instead of only the playlist database).

Which I think, was related to Dr.Who usage, but I might have that all wrong.

What is the purpose of this database, and what triggers files to be added to it?

This was the post and thread that prompted the change: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,124681.msg863711.html#msg863711

I checked and I don't have any files that are in the Playlist database that aren't associated with a Playlist.
But I have lots of files that are in Playlists but aren't in the Playlist database.

Whatever is going on, it could be related to issues like this one: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,125992.0.html

I think I know what the Playlist database is, but it would be nice to get a concise explanation from JRiver, as my thoughts have never been confirmed or corrected when I have shared them.
