Title: Cover Art Incorrectly Assigned MC26
Post by: Cloudsurfer on July 01, 2020, 09:41:01 pm
? From one who is a basic user, not skilled in writing code or filenames: MC26 has assigned cover art to incorrectly, e.g. "Rust Never Sleeps" to non Neil Young files. It seems to take what's available and simply assign cover art to whatever, which did not happen with WMP. Can I globally wipe all cover art and attempt to retrieve correctly online? I have over 15k files and would rather not do that to each one. I won't live that long. Your knowledge and advice are sincerely appreciated.  8)

MC doesn't randomly add Cover Art to Albums incorrectly, although some people with strange workflows have seen some issues. Not with Audio usually though.

First just try to Rebuild Thumbnails. The Cover Art may be correct but MC mostly shows thumbnails that it generates from the Cover Art, and sometimes those can get messed up.

Check the actual Cover Art files if they are separate, or look in the files using Windows Explorer if they are embedded, to see if they are wrong there.

MC's COver Art lookup for Audio works well for Albums, but not so well for individual files, even if you are doing them on mass. So best to try other things first.

The Options settings has a search bar at the bottom.
The Wiki has a Cover Art article.
