I am having an issue with cracking/tapping/popping sound effect constantly going on. It sounds like an a scratch record\vinyl playing. You can definitely here it in between songs and quiet songs thru out. I never had this issue before. I checked my settings and tried to find where its coming from. Experimented here and there. I also read forum posts on this and tried that. I still haven't found the solution. I don't know where to trace it. If anyone knows about this I appreciate it.

Bitstreaming?

Latest 26 version
Dsf files (been converted by dsd 64 encoding by jriver)
SMSL M400 DAC (USB) ASIO
No. I turn off dsd bitstreaming off. Using TDIF.
I have gotten a new PC and I have jriver on my E: drive which am currently have it connected to a hub to SATA plug in because this PC didn't have space for this ssd hard drive. But I am going to get a caddy tray hard drive that you can use it the cd rom. I think this will help. Other problem I have is jriver freezes and stetches out and then back to normal frequently when I use the mouse. Click or scroll. Hope this answers your question.

Please clarify. Are you converting from PCM to DSD using the Encode playback option or have you converted the files to DSD?
If you are playing DSD files with bitstreaming off, then you are converting them to PCM on the fly. What does Audio Path say (gear at upper right)?

Yes. I am doing exactly how you said it. Been doing it that way over a year. Had no problems with clipping tapping sound until recently. I have tried many things with my DAC and I currently have it at 384khz. I used to have set at dsd256. But seems to work well except the tapping. Anything on how to stop this? Update maybe?

*****Updated*******
Some of the dsf files were causing all this clicking tapping popping noise. I realized all the ones I converted to DSD 64 recently were doing it. I don't know why because I never had this issue before. Just recently. I always convert to DSD 64. So I had to get rid of them on my playlist and change them back to m4a. Does anyone know what might have caused this?
