Hello,
I 've installed JRiver 26 on Macbook air 2019 & just bought Mc C2700 (its USB input playback support up to DSD512).
When I connect USB from Macbook to C2700, it 's only play up to 352,8 Khz. Especially, playing DSD file (11,2 Mhz) there is a lot of noise.
I 've tried to change bitstreaming to DSD, output encoding to DSD but it cant play.
Just need a help on setting to play DSDon C2700
Thank for your help

As far as Apple hasn't change their OS in the last months you can play only DSD256/384kHz PCM on Mac, unless Mcintosh have a custom driver for Mac that allows higher rates. It is a limitation of mac OS.

Thank Manfred for your support.
Could you help me in setting to play DSD256/384kHz PCM on Mac? I 've tried but failed.
Thank you so much

I have checked with my ADI-2 DAC FS and my MacBook Pro. I only have 8 GB RAM which is too little - I always have 1-2GB swapped. (Typically I use Devialet AIR and not USB)
1. Connect your C2700 with an USB cable to your Mac/Macbook Pro - No Hub please
2. Under Tools->Options->Audio you should see your C2700 like "AD-2 DAC [Core Audio]
3. Set Bitstreaming to Custom (enable DSD Up to DSD256)
4. Check Under Tools->Options->Audio->Advanced Configure input plugin ->DSD input plugin ->Safe/Auto
5. Memory playback (if you have enough memory) : Load full file (not decoded) into memory (the other method is very CPU demanding)
6. Check Apple Audio MIDI Setup (You should see your C2700 there and the supported sample rates)
Play a DSD 64 track and check Audio Path Input: DoP DSD 64 (1x) Output: DoP DSD 64 (1x)
DSD 256 also plays nice LSO Schumann Symph.

Dear Manfred,
Thank you for your support.
I did set up the JRiver as following pictures. If I play DSD 64 to DSD 128 (dsf file), pre C2700 only shows 176.4 kHz & can't hear anything (picture 08). I 've alo checked Apple Audio MIDI Setup, it automatically changes to 176.4 KHz after playing DSD 64 or DSD 128.
Everything is OK for 44.1 kHz.
Do you have any corrections in my setting? My Mac uses Catalina ver 10.15.6
Thank
Br,
Hung Tran
P/s: sorry for not switching to English version in my Mac. It will make you have to guess ^_^

Make sure you have volume set to 100% in both MC and macOS, as that's a requirement of (most?) DACs when DSD bitstreaming. According to the screenshot above, the C2700 is connected to the Mac using USB, correct?

Hi Manfred,
Yes, Mac connected to C2700 by USB. I could not adjust volume in this case. I will try to switched to System Volume this evening

Could it be that you have in DSP Studio set: 352,8 should be downsampled to 176,4? In your case should be set to "no change".
Your other settings in mc seems to be ok. I also recommend to use SoX for resampling.

Hi Manfred,
I did set the output format "no change" at the first time. Pls see my setting in attached pic.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed. Do you have any new suggestion?
Tks

You don't need to change the DSD configuration settings like low-pass filtering unless you're converting DSD to PCM. If you're trying to bitstream DSD, you don't need to change anything there and can leave those settings alone. If you're converting DSD to PCM, you really should enable one of the low-pass filtering settings or else you risk damaging your speakers.
Did you change system volume in macOS to 100%? If that fails, you might ask McIntosh to see what they say about support DSD playback on macOS.

Mmmh - I have no idea anymore - For me it seems to be a macOS problem. The configuration seems to be ok (I would also recommend to use Dithering TDPF). With my ADI2-DAC FS there is no difference if I disable Volume or use MC Volume control. Something on macOS side seems to be not ok. But I don't know what. What I have seen with my ADI2-DAC FS is if I play native DSD macOS converts the sample frequency to 176,4. But you have enabled bitstream DSD, so that should not be the reason. You don't have a Windows PC or Laptop to cross check with the USB AIO driver for windows?
