Hi all,
Thought I would share this ..... it may not apply to all...I accept no responsibility for any problems ;D
During the last few days my PC's have been going much slower than normal. All of my PC's are at least 2Ghz - but software like Media Centre has been taking 10 seconds to start and 5-10 seconds to actually start playing anything.
I've found in the Newsgroups that I appear to not be alone with this problem.....it appears a Windows Update which was released a few days ago could be causing the problem. The Hotfix number is 811493.
As soon as I removed this hotfix in Add/Remove programmes everything is okay again - and software like MC just takes 1-2 seconds to load...
On the newsgroups it appears MS has acknowledged the problem and working on a fix.
So if you find your PC is running slow you may want to remove this hotfix. Look for 811493 on Google Newsgroups if you want more info.
Removing this hotfix solved the problem for me...
