Title: Stop after current file - bug or feature :)
Post by: StFeder on August 27, 2020, 07:53:35 am
I quiet often use the "Stop after current file" playback mode during dancing lessons. Quiet a handy feature :) When it was introduced, it worked the following:

MC plays file 1 then stops
--> hitting play plays file 2
MC plays file 2 then stops
--> hitting play plays file 3
MC plays file 3 then stops
--> hitting play plays file 4

It now does something... strange. It at least looks strange to me, because I cannot figure out the logic behind this. "Stop after current file" for quite a long time works the following way:

MC plays file 1 then stops
--> hitting play plays file 3
MC plays file 3 then stops
--> hitting play plays file 5
MC plays file 5 then stops
--> hitting play plays file 7

So MC always skips a song. Am I missing an option, is there something I should handle different or is there some kind of logic I'm uable to understand?

I can't reproduce that.  When I stop after the current file, the playback position just advances one track and play starts that new track.

I wonder what might be different?

Are you playing to a UPNP / DLNA renderer? And if so, do you have gapless playback turned on? i.e. is SetNext support enabled?

It's local playback on my Laptop.I just tried again to make sure I'm not doing something strange at the dancing lessons which is the only times I use this function. I can easy reproduce that behaivior.
The last time I was "investigating" something within MC Matt asked me to install a portable version of MC to give this a try, so I did this again and now it gets really weird with stop after current file activated:
MC does the same: plays song 1, and then jumps to song 3. BUT hitting play makes song 1 play again, even song 3 was the bold song in playing now  :o I did a clean install of the current MC Version...
