Title: Importing custom tag fields
Post by: Orac on August 28, 2020, 03:06:10 am
Hi All,

I've been setting up a new machine with MC26 and when I create the library and set up folders to import, is there a way to import custom tag fields at the same time?
By that, what I mean is that I have created a custom field (called 'Category') for my audio files ID tag but after importing, the field is empty and then I have to run 'Update Library (from tags)' on all the files. This takes quite some time as I have over 75000 files tagged. Am I missing something in the initial import?

You would need to add it in MC as a custom tag and name it identically, including case.  It should then show up.

The wiki has information on tagging.

Thanks JimH, but that isn't exactly the problem ...

I have created the tag in MC and it does show up in the tag editor. The problem occurs when importing files into a new library. The custom field is there, but it is not populated, it is empty. Only after I run the 'Update Library (from tags)' with all files selected is it populated.
