I had one that I've now lost and would like to recreate but can't work out the random bit.
The one I lost played a random album that hadn't been played for a period of time and I can't work out the random bit.
While on this subject, is there anywhere where smartlists that other users have made can be found?

Here's my Random Album with Favorites (Not Played in a While) smartlist. It will provide one random album which:
- where at least one track on it has been un-played for the past 26 weeks
- where at least one of the tracks is rated 4 stars or higher
- where the [Album] is not empty (which otherwise can mess up the expand to Album).
[Media Type]=[Audio] [Media Sub Type]=[],[Music] [Rating]=>=4 [Last Played]=>26w -[Album]=[] ~limit=1,-1,[Album],[Album Artist (auto)] ~a

You can restore a backup. MC makes them automatically. Search for *.zip in Explorer.

Thanks for the example, I'll give it a go. A restore wouldn't work in this case, new computer after crash and new install.
Are there any examples of Smartlists out there that anyone knows of?

There are a whole pile of examples in the Wiki (along with links to threads on Interact). Here are some places to start:
