Title: MC27 fails to open some images

After import I found some missing Thumbnails (red camera symbol).
Trying to open displays a gray screen "Failed to load ..."
Locate on disx (external) finds the file. And the image loads fine with paint.
The image left and right to the missing one, taken with the same camera, are displayed correct.

The log does not show an attempt to read the file. Therefore the content of the file cannot be the reason for the failure. Correct ?

I reported a similar problem last week. For me, MC was unable to show the image file, whilst all other jpg handlers on my PC would do as asked.

Using the rather good, and free for home use, XnView MP (https://www.xnview.com/en/), it reported xmp errors.

Tagging was done with MC25. MC25 also reads this image with no problem.

I reversed the migration to MC27. Too many images are affected by this problem. So I'm still sticking with MC25.

Has JRiver recognized the problem? Shall I provide sample images?

Yes, please provide samples.  Post them here or mail them to matt at jriver dot com.
