Title: Library restore forces a complete thumbnail rebuild, but shouldn't
Post by: JustinChase on November 24, 2020, 07:29:05 pm
I restored a library to the server, to update the playlists I'd created in another MC install.  The files didn't change, and both libraries point to the same shared drives, and use the exact same mappings.

I understand MC wants to make sure thumbnails are all updated, but why not verify what existed prior to the restore instead of assuming they all need restored?

Seems wrong to assume a library restore is changing every file and that they all need rebuilt.  It's had my server working, and barely responsive for the last several hours; absolutely unnecessarily.

Let's work together to save the planet, and not waste electricity on unnecessary work.  (and not make my server useless for watching videos for too many hours)

I support this proposal.

But as long as that is not possible, I do workaround with manually saving and restoring the complete thumbnail order.
