Title: MC 27 upsampling problem
Post by: dctom on December 03, 2020, 05:24:07 am
Have had to reinstall MC 27, it has been working fine - however now..

When upsampling in DSP studio and  select 2xDSD or 4xDSD for instance, in the playback window I get-

resample to 705 khz with SSRC ,
encode as DSD in Dop format

this produces a strange distorted sound.

my DAC is 4 x DSD capable btw

can amyone help please

DSD over DoP is the only possibility to play DSD on the macOS platform. Exception is if the DAC vendor provide special drivers. You must enable this in Tools->options->audio->Device (DSD bitstream in DOP format) and also enable audio->bitstream->DSD

To package DSD128 in PCM, you need on the macOS platform 384 kHz PCM sampling rate. For DSD256 it would already be 768 kHz.

So your DAC must provide a pcm sample frequency of 768 kHz to play DSD256 on the macOS platform.

Shot in the dark, but have you tried disabling (or enabling it if it's disabled) integer mode?

I think there might be a bug here that Matt found recently.

Indeed, it is likely the DoP issue.

Verified the problem and the fix. Will upload a new build today.
