Title: video codecs
Post by: daven on April 13, 2003, 08:04:50 am
since i reinstalled media center i can now play audio, but media center and windows media player no longer recognize avi files.  they try to play them as if they were audio files-- with sound and visualizations.  do i need to reinstall the codecs?

Make sure you have the latest version.  9.0.148 is here.

Delete the files from your MC library and reimport.

after i import the files media center is able to play them.  but if i just open the avi with media center before it is imported, media center cannot play.  if i drag the file into the media libray icon in the tree, it places the avi as an audio file and can still not play the video.  it seems only importing through the file menu will work.
