Title: Tree selection and Panes

Is there a way to prevent Panes from disappearing when selecting an element in the tree and to sync them with the tree selection? They can only be seen when the root of a view is selected in the tree.

Edit: from old threads it seems not. The limitation is strange because, it is able to display the Panes categories in tree. What's the cost of keeping Panes open?
