Title: Noise and popping between tracks on upscaled content
Post by: blackjack007 on January 05, 2021, 11:50:03 am
Noise and popping issues are heard when switching from track to track with upscaled playback. Upscaling non DSD to 4xDSD over DoP. With native DSD files there is no track transition noise. On any upscaled material there are transitional crackles or pops heard. Upscaling to the same level with the same material and same computer does not have track to track issues with Audirvana. The track-track noise appears to be better than in earlier versions of Media Center 27 and going back to ver 26 but is not acceptable.

Basic Hardware Setup and Information:
Windows 10 Pro 64 bit - version 20H2 with all latest updates
Chord Hugo 2 - DAC only mode, WASAPI or ASIO driver tested with same results (WASAPI used as standard)

41K plus files, 4.4TB with over 12K of native DSD (64-256) material

Audirvana does not have the issue when upscaling but it has many other issues in the Windows environment that have not been fixed or addressed after years of time.

More information can be provided if needed.

Thx ...

It's a known thing when doing any sort of DSD conversion (PCM > DSD, DSD > PCM and DSD > DSD) that's been reported over the last couple years.

Understand ... a known issue that is not fixed. To make clear, with the exact same system and source the Audirvana execution has ZERO noise between upscaled tracks.

A specific case example demonstrating that this does not need to be and can be addressed.
