Title: Music files vs Video files
Post by: oie on January 14, 2021, 04:04:34 am
Good morning,

For some weeks now I can't see the audio files in the server from any client computer. I can see the video files though.

Win 10 up to date.
Server win 10 home. Clients: one win 10 home, one win 10 pro.
Music and video files are both on different usb hard drives plugged to the server.
All computers have last 27 jriver installed.
This started at certain time during 27 versions cycle.  Was fine on 26 and before.
I use an access key to connect.
The client's computer connects to the server and download the library.
All remote apps work fine.
It has worked as intended for years.

Although I believe I have not changed any settings within the network I have run out of ideas.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Oscar

Can you access the files via Win Explorer from one of the clients? (I have a similar environment as you) After one Win 10 upgrade Win 10 had made my private network to a public network and I had a similar problem.

Hi Manfred,

Thanks for your answer.
Yes, I can access to the external hard disks which are plugged to the server from the clients via Windows Explorer.
Both networks are Private.
Probably is something silly, but is annoying ;D

I assume this is only inside MC Client, and you can view those files using Windows Explorer.

- Does this happen in any View/Playlist?
- If you select Audio->Files on the navigation tree, does anything show up?
- What about on the MC Server, do the audio files show up on that playlist?
- If you select one of the audio files, what does it say on the MediaType and MediaSubtype tags?

Good Morning,

Yes

Yes

No

All files show up on the server, on any view.

- If you select one of the audio files, what does it say on the MediaType and MediaSubtype tags?
Mediatype shows Audio and MediaSubtype is empty.
I dont use MediSubtype for audio files, just for Video.

Many thanks,

Oscar

On the Server settings, check Media Network -> "Set Rules for Included Files", and also "Set Rules for JRemote, Gizmo, Panel..."

Good afternoon,

Many thanks zybex.

All up and running now.
Media Network->Set rules for included files; Media type was correct, Video & Audio, but on Media subtype "empty" was not ticked.
I honestly do not remember changing that but somehow it has changed at certain time.

Anyway, thank you again for your help.

Regards,
Oscar

I was referred to this thread. When sharing my remotes can't see video files.

In Media Network -> "Set Rules for Included Files" I have no rules and don't think I ever have.

I think my problem is that I can't find the "Set Rules for JRemote, Gizmo, Panel..." option. Where is it?

Looks like now it's under Media Network -> Advanced -> Customize Views for JRemote, Gizmo & Panel.
Maybe you enabled Audio-Only Mode on the View menu?
