Title: Back up all settings before an upgrade or reinstall
Post by: leperlord on January 17, 2021, 02:55:20 am
Good day

Can i please ask where all the relevant files/settings are for the MC 24 library, playlists and any other settings are, and how to back them up safely before one either reinstalls or upgrades to the new version. And how to install/apply them to the new install?

i seen someone say that you don`t have to uninstall the present version, just install the new version and it will copy all my settings. Is that true?

i have spent many hours setting things, esp Library/Playlists and would be grieved to lose them

PS i am on Windows 10

Cheers

I went to pane named "Main Library" and backed up to

D:\User documents\Documents\JRiver\Media Center 24\Library Backups

Does that also include all my playlists? And now how  to apply to a new install?

Everything is in one zip now

Cheers

Yes, all settings are preserved.

Just do Backup Library to make sure you have a backup if anything goes wrong (like you did). Then install the new version, and everything should already be there for you. If for some reason MC fails to migrate the library automatically, just do a Restore Backup.

No need to uninstall before installing the new one. You can uninstall MC24 afterwards if you want.
