Hi,
I ran some updates via windows update and now JRiver is not opening anymore. It gives me a message saying it did not close properly and three things to put back to default so it will open, but nothing happens. I have tried reinstalling it but that has not helped. I have Windows Defender turned off and no other anti virus programs. It was working flawlessly last night. I can still open the CD labeler and media editor that also came with it.
Has anyone else recently come across this issue?
Edit: I went into event viewer to see what the error was:

Try the latest build, available here: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,128472.0.html

Unfortunately that did not help.

Try the 32 bit version of MC.
Configure Windows Defender.
-
Will do, I have also tried opening it on a fresh user account and it opens fine. So whatever was 'updated' on my actual user account last night seems to be preventing it.
-
I have tried the 32 bit version and I have configured Windows Defender and then rebooted, neither worked.
-
I was able to install and use JRiver 25. Still no idea why 27 will no longer open.
-
Since it sounds like something may have corrupted the installed MC27 files/folders try running CHKDSK to see if there are any bad/failing sectors on your system disc.
-
Will do, thank you for the suggestion.

If MC opens with a different user profile then it's likely just a corrupt folder or registry profile.
You can try this:
1. With Regedit, rename the key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 27" to "bad.Media Center 27". Try to start MC.
2. if that fails, rename the folder "C:\Users\PFonseca\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 27" to "bad.Media Center 27". Try to start MC.
If 2 works, you can re-import your files or restore from a Backup. You'll need to reconfigure MC from scratch.
Note that the folder contains your database! Do not delete it, or at least make a backup of it.
