I usually don't come on the forum, but decided to when I haven't seen an automatic update in a couple of months. Simple question...Why Not??
I am still running 27.043 and when I click update, it says 27.043 is the latest!!
-
What is checked in Help - Update Channels? Stable or latest? I'm not sure what version Stable is, but if Latest is not checked, try that.
-
Indeed, very likely you're on the stable channel. Switch to the latest channel and check for updates.
-
Are you saying that no recent releases are considered stable?
-
You really should read the info about the update channels and how they work. The stable channel, which is the default channel, is meant for those who want stability over everything else. Builds promoted to the stable channel have been tested thoroughly and have been deemed to be fit for the stable channel. Latest channel is exactly that, the latest builds released to the public. While they're pretty stable themselves, some users may not feel comfortable running them.

That is what JimH said in this other thread.
Jim - .43 is the current Stable version. Is that intentional or an oversight? It is somewhat unusual for Stable to be 23 versions behind Latest.
It happens sometimes. We need to have a build that has no problems in order to consider promoting it.

Hey guys, thanks for the response. Saw Jim's comments about stability and updates. Usually MC is never that far behind on releases, thought something was wrong on my end.
Problem solved!!

but...
What I don't get, is that "stable" should be providing build .53, as per the "stable", public download page... https://www.jriver.com/download.html
So surely if a user is on "Stable" channel, and running build .43, a check for updates should prompt to install build .53, not state that build .43 is the current latest?
or am I missing something here?

I’ll certainly try not to be so stupid in future as to assume an old build said to be ‘up to date’ is not as up to date as a new download!
Thanks for putting me straight.

Both the download page and the stable download in the program have been updated to .66.
