Title: any problems with 27, 26, JRemote on Leap 15.2 (Intel Z490 hw based)
Post by: alessandro on February 19, 2021, 06:08:36 am
Hi, I have been a customer for over 5 years and for the first time I am encountering problems with these product. The first is that I can't install 27 on Leap 15.2. The previous 26 installs without problems. For 27 instead, it asks me for a GLIBC 2.27 (Leap stay on 2.26) and if I implement the requested changes it uninstalls YAST. So, I finally mounted Tumbleweed and everything works, but it's a temporary solution. How to solve? The second problem is that JRemote 2 no longer works, it connects to the server but does not take commands. Again, never had any problems. What do Team think?

Best regards Alessandro Roma Italy

I believe there have been multiple bug reports submitted to OpenSuse as GLIBC is currently at version 2.33 and Leap falls behind with V2.26. You could add a local repo to install an updated version, but this might break down other parts.
So stay with thumbleweed until Leap catch up.

As JRiver does not support Opensuse/Leap, not sure if they can provide assistance. Maybe the community can.

JRemote2 failing to connect might be a firewall problem.  The server needs to have 52100 to 52200 open.

Yeah, unfortunately if Leap is only at 2.26 the only workaround is to use Tumbleweed. JRiver only officially supports Debian, any other distros besides Debian aren't officially supported so you're mostly going to be on your own there (unless another user is running a similar setup and can assist).

As for JRemote2, if you can get 27.0.66 working, that's what you should try with JRemote2. If all else fails, try resetting Media Network in Media Center or reset JRemote2 by clearing the app's data. And like Jim said, check the firewall/port forwarding of your OS/router/modem/etc.

I've always used JRiver 24, 25 and 26 with Leap 42.2 then 15.1 with no problems ... it all starts with 15.2! Ciao

firewall on Leap or TW is in disabled status

As stated, Tumbleweed is no problem.  You might also try the Leap 15.3 alpha.
