Last weekend I rebuilt my machine with a new ASUS board (Z590M-PLUS). There was a little trial and error involved.
I set up Sleep for 30 minutes, but it never went to sleep, even if I commanded it to manually. It always woke a few seconds later.
Finally tonight, I had the time and patience to dig into it. I didn't find anything immediately on Google, but I did think about Wake on LAN, and that turned out to be a lucky guess.
In Device Manager, I chose Network > Intel Ethernet, and then Advanced. At the bottom of the list, there were two settings.
Wake on Magic Packet
Wake on Pattern Match
They were both enabled. I turned both off and then tested. It stayed asleep.
I went back and changed Magic Packet to Enabled because I use it sometimes. That also worked.
Don't know why, but sometimes you need to walk quietly away from a problem you've solved, even if you were just lucky.
