This is probably not a show stopper so that's why I'm posting outside the release thread.
I used 9.0.143 to rip+encode hundreds of tracks, then categorized them using the MMJB tags. But for some reason many of them have duplicate MMJB tags as below:
MPEG-1 Layer 3
320 Kbit CBR
44.1 Khz Stereo
Copyrighted: No
Original: Yes
Protected by CRC: No
ID3v1 Tag: (128 bytes)
Name: Don't Stop the Music
Artist: Yarbrough, Peoples
Album: 18 Disco Superhits
Year: 1996
Comment:
Track #: 18
Genre: Disco (4)
ID3v2 Tag: (2580 bytes)

This scares me since to me even though MC reads the MMJB tag info at some point they will need to get cleaned up and so I don't want to lose anything.

OK I think I found what is causing this. On a track (below) that did not have any MMJB dups I corrected the Album Name then did a Rename File From Properties which caused dups to be written:

This problem is more serious than I thought so I posted it on the 143 bug thread ... meta tag data is ballooning!

This just started happening with a recent change to make the comments understandable by WMP9.
It will be fixed soon.

144 seems to have fixed the dup MMJB id3v2 tag problems. Plus, I wrote dummy data to, then removed it from, an unused field (Notes) which cleaned up the dups.

Good deal :)
