Can I set my PC to NOT require a password for startup but still accept editing changes to MC (through J.Remote), which I think requires authentication? I can’t seem to figure out how. And if it’s not possible, why not? I don’t want to have to login every time I restart the PC.

Use netplwiz.exe to sort that then :)

Right, I know about this. But this is the problem: once I set the PC not to require password login I can no longer make changes because I don’t have authentification.

MC authentication and Windows login are entirely separate concepts. You can setup MC authentication in the Media Network settings.

That’s what I thought, but when I turn off Windows login I am no longer able to make changes and get an authentication error message.
Under authentication in MC I am asked to enter a username and password, anyway. So I don’t understand how to get around this.

Disable authentication in MC in Options > Media Network by unchecking the Authentication: option. Keep in mind with it off anyone can access it.

Bear in mind, this user/pass is entered on the clients when connecting... The client should prompt for it when first connecting, and there should be a "remember this" kind of tick box. Tick that, and never be bothered by it again.

OK, it seems to work now. Must have been a glitch when I tried it last night. Thanks, everyone.
