Title: Last days of beta
Post by: JimH on April 04, 2003, 02:13:15 pm
We're in a different mode now as far as problems are concerned.

For those of you who have kept a careful list, thank you.  But now it's time to sort out the big problems from the little ones.  Little ones won't be addressed until we begin work on the next release.

When you report a bug, please ask yourself if it is a showstopper -- would the program be unacceptable if the problem wasn't fixed.  We're not going to chase any more "it would be nice if" problems for this release.

If you are in doubt, post the problem in a separate thread and ask others if they can duplicate it and if it's worth delaying the release in order to fix it.

Thanks for your understanding.  Above all, thank you for the great support you've been along the way!

We're nearly there.

Maybe call it a RC instead of beta. Maybe more ppl will try it.

Overall, it does a great job. Sure there some little things with it but I'm sure you'll get to them soon.

It may not be as fine tuned as I'd like to see, but MC9 is a truly amazing piece of software.

Another job well done.

I've never regretted buying this, unlike so many other software packages in the past. Despite what I may have implied in one of my not-so-pleasant moods. ;)

Have a look at my post concerning Analyse Audio

I do thing this problem is a showstopper.

Not because it is one of the feature i like the most.
But because it is one that not all player have ,one who is a "plus" against other programs.

Is it possible to have Artist / Album Thumbnail grouping of IMAGES use the simple Artist field? The Thumbnails would be great for images, but "Various Artists" spoils the whole thing. It grabs images from other "albums" that are intended to be cataloged seperately.

Show-stopper? Well, it's not a crash, for sure. But the Thumbnails are so close to working for images that I think you get a lot of leverage: minimal coding, no inexplicable behavior, lots of happy users.

How about posting some (forgive me) documentation on the new features? Things like ~sort have features most of us don't even know about.

We can Beta the docs and make sure they're in-sync with the program.

Hi,

I read in some thread that Lise has started writing a new help file for MC9. I guess she will ask the MC community for some feedback and reviews like she did about a year ago for MJ8 help file.

MC9 has become a complex piece of software with many features to be documented and more opportunities for smart tips 'n tricks.
So, Lise, if you need us we're ready to help !

C.

CMagic,
Lise is indeed working on a Help file and we will be requesting your help to submit Tips 'n' Tricks for MC.
Please think about time-saving and smart ways to make the most of MC. Perhaps we will get a thread going for that purpose.
