This is a survey based on the "default" look of MC9. This isn't a bug, rant, new feature, etc. I know a lot of ppl change the program as soon as they install it. Let's see how you use MC9. If you use it as it is installed, just say default or post a screenshot. I'd like to see the different looks. I'll start it off..

Sorry if this is slightly off topic but is there any way to adjust the color of the text? I know we can change the font but some of the skins I like (Amped, for example) are difficult to read with the default font color.
I'd edit the skin but I have no idea how to do that.

for track templates
Green
<font color="#00FF00">TRACKINFO_INSERT_TITLE</font>
Purple
<font color="#FF00FF">TRACKINFO_INSERT_ARTIST</font>
etc...
Never played with skins

I like Green Eyes skin.
Also, sometimes turn skinning off & use WindowBlinds 4 skins... a LOT of choices (thousands).

King,
Thanks...now if I can further display my ignorance:
How do I use the info you've given? Where do I insert that font color data? ?
Thanks

like i said i never played with skins, i did look at the code a few hours ago it looks like HTML I am not sure if you incert a color and just close it at the end of the code if it will work or not.
did you read the Skin SDK? it may tell you in there.

'camp,
You'll get the gist by reading the posts by MachineHead here (http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=beta;action=display;num=1049329560)
Rx
edit: Doc... what's up with this Windowblinds 4? Did a very quick, non intensive search. Didn't find a thing. Could you elaborate a little?

Caution: Changing the text in <Frame> is easy. I discovered another fault with Shadow3D that blacks out the Options text when you use black. Try softer color and see if it is a balance that works with text and the Hilight3D and Shadow3D.
Best bet before modifying anything is to make a copy of the XML and saving it in a safe place. If you get too carried away, you can always copy and paste it back in the folder to restore original state.

Icamp,
How do I use the info you've given? Where do I insert that font color data?
Go in J River/MediaCenter/MegaSkins/(skin_name)/ directory and search for a file named main.xml,
(This file is pure ASCII and editable using notepad).
Then read posts by MachineHead and others to customize your Megaskins.

Thanks for the help with changing the text colors guys! I never realized it would be that easy.
The most interesting part of this thread, IMO, is seeing all the various view schemes everyone has created. I hope future versions of MC allow us to "trade" view schemes (and playlists).
