I feel sorry for them all.
They're going to be yet more people who are not given sentences relatively to their crime but instead are going to be given sentences tens of times worse purely to 'set an example'.
Perhaps if they'd done something a bit less evil like Murder they might not be pursued as harshly or given such extreme punishments.
The MTU student allegedly had 650,000 music files available for downloading.
...damages of $150,000 per infringement in addition to attorneys' fees.
That works out at around: $97,500,000,000 unless I'm mistaken? Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Basically they are going to have their financial lives ruined for a LONG LONG time. This will probably effect the rest of their lives in a HUGE way purely for letting people enjoy some music for free.
Their crime is equivalent to bootleggers or small time con men and should be given punishments equivalent. They shouldn't be given punishments worse than the worst crimes against humanity.
