My screen display is set to automatically turn off after 3 minutes of idle time. I've been running version JRiver version 27 without issue. I just updated to version 27.0.85 yesterday and now my display won't shut off when JRiver is running. When I close JRiver, the display shuts off automatically as normal. But when I run JRiver now, it won't turn off.
I've tried restarting both JRiver and my Macbook. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be very appreciated!

What version of MacOS? If 11.x add architecture as well please.
-
Sierra, version 10.12.6.
Interestingly, the keyboard buttons that increase or decrease screen brightness also seem to be locked out when JRiver is running.
-
One more detail to add - this only occurs while music is playing. If I press the stop button, then the screen shuts off automatically as expected.
Before the update the screen would shut off normally even when music is playing.

We needed to use a newer API because of the release of Big Sur which might be your issue.
Can you check and see if the switch in Tools->Options->Audio "Display video from turning off..." is enabled? If so, try disabling it.

It is unchecked. I even tried checking it and unchecking it, but still the problem persists...

Is there a fix for this? Or if not, how can I go back to the previous version of JRiver? With the screen on constantly it drains my computer battery incredibly quickly...

Would you turn on logging and post a log please? Help->Logging.
The actions of the power manager are logged by MC.
Set a short screen timeout or a minute or two, start logging wait for the timeout to not happen, go back to logging and do report problem.
The previous versions are listed on this forum in date order.
It looks like you'd need to go back to 27.0.66 to get the old sleep behavior.

Logged and attached. The file systeminfo.txt at the bottom says "Power
playback (disable automatic sleep)." Therein seems to be the issue. What to do?

There are several kinds of sleep. The only one we don't want to prevent in this case is the display sleep.
I'm looking at it.
