Title: handheld sync issue (using Rockbox)

I have a modded ipod with a 512GB microSD card and Rockbox installed. MC sees the device under Drives & Devices and I am able to add music. It's great. Except that once the music is added MC no longer sees that it is there. It's on the device and I can play it, but when I try to resync or add new music it treats everything I've added as longer loaded. If I keep the device plugged in and hit "Recheck Sync" the files go from "On Device" back to "In Queue." If I unplug and replug in the device the songs are totally absent. Adding them again just duplicates them. Any ideas what's going on here?
