Title: Pro Tools to JRiver
Post by: JimH on June 28, 2021, 04:03:18 pm
If you use Pro Tools (https://www.avid.com/pro-tools), I could use your help.

I have a friend who used Pro Tools for many years on a Mac.  He was a radio professional, but is retired now.  We're trying to figure out how to get a few of his playlists on Cloudplay.

What formats of audio does it usually save in?  WAV, FLAC, etc.

Can it export playlists?  If so, anything MC can read?

Thanks for any clues you may be able to provide.

Here's a Wikipedia article:

AIFF, WAV and other formats of audio.

The files are in AIFF format, so that's good.  Not sure about the playlist format yet.

Thanks.  I don't see any playlist formats, in the conventional sense.

AFAIK, there aren't any for an entire playlist.  Maybe someone else knows.

Protools has a an internal feature -called- playlists, but it is not what media player’s  software call playlists.
It is just to change the version of each track recording takes, considering each track inside the multitrack area as a playlist for whatever it has inside, different events, takes, items, regions... whatever...(I don’t know the exact name of these audio or midi regions in protools).
I’m not sure... but I don’t think that pt can save playlists in the sense of media player’s meaning of the word
