Well, out of nowhere Media Player stutters badly when I use the Audeze Reveal+ software. I've had the software for some time and never experienced this. Any suggestions?

What version of MC?

I'm running the latest, 28.0.32. I went back a few versions to no avail. A help request to Audeze got me this: Eric @ Audeze (Audeze Customer Support Center)

Hi James,
Thanks for reaching out. JRiver 25.0.115 is required for Reveal+ to work on most recent operating systems. Previous versions may not load the plugin, so if you can make sure you've updated to at least that version of JRiver, you should be able to load Reveal+.
Assuming you've installed the correct Reveal components into the proper folders so JRiver can find them, any issues you're experiencing should be related to JRiver and its setup.
Beyond that, we'd suggest visiting the JRiver support page to find the source of any issues. They have FAQs, a contact form and a Community Forum that should be able to help.
Sorry we're not able to be of more assistance, but specific platform issues are outside the scope of our support.
I hope this helps!
Eric

Did it ever work with JRiver Media Center? Which version of MC?
Try the 32 bit version of JRiver from the Download Page.
Is it a VST? VST3?
-
Yes, it has always worked on JRiver since I installed it last Fall, and on MC28, which I installed as soon as it was released. It is a VST3 program.
-
We recently made this VST3 change:
28.0.31 (6/25/2021)
1. Changed: Made the VST buffer a little bigger because the Dirac VST could report no signal with the current size.
Did that make any difference?
-
I've rolled back to 28.0.26 and it works just fine.
Thanks.
-
Well we were using 1024 blocks as a sample size and that was causing latency with some visualizers.
We reduced it to 256 in recent builds.
I suppose it could be optional? Or we could try the middle number?
-
Next build:
Changed: Made the VST sample size optional in Options > Audio > Advanced (takes a restart for the change to take effect).
There might just not be a good catch all size. So now it will be an option.
Thanks for the help.

I also use the Reveal plugin 64 bit version. MC is 28.032 64 bit. I have no problems on both my workstation and the media renderer. Reveal dll is 1.0.2.0. under C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins

Huh. I’ll tinker around with it some more and see if I can get it running. Meanwhile, I like Matt’s idea of a variable selection.
