Title: Playback performance on Raspberry Pi 4 8gb?
Post by: maxy on July 06, 2021, 10:25:16 am
Hi,

I'm newly registered. I haven't buy licence yet. I want to be sure things before buying .

I'm trying to build some music server with Active Studio Monitor speakers  + DAC and Raspberry Pi 4 8 gb .

I have some questions.

1. Some 64bit linux distro installed raspberry pi 4 8 gb (With SSD) is ok for JRiver music playback performance?
2. Linux version is stabil as windows version?
3. Can I use MadVR for linux version As windows version ? MadVR actived jriver would be cool for raspberry pi.  I may video playback use instead kodi , maybe?

Also , Master License is valid for only one OS? Can I use Linux and Win10 at the same time?

Thanks for help.

The Master License works with Windows, MacOS and Linux.

madVR is only available on Windows.

The Linux versions are quite stable.

I don't understand your first question.

Raspberry Pi OS 64-bit works fine with the ARM64 version of JRiver Media Center. As long as you're using the ARM64 version, it *should* work fine but I'd highly recommend using Raspberry Pi OS (formerly Raspbian) for this.

If you're planning to watch video, depending on the video content a Raspberry Pi may not be the best solution, however for audio only a Raspberry Pi is a great solution! Like Jim said there is no madVR for Linux or Mac, it's a Windows-only feature that relies on Windows components (DirectShow) and even if it was, performance on a Raspberry Pi would be terrible. Same thing regarding components being Windows-only.  Also applies to other components like LAV Filters.
