What's required for MC to play 4k UHD Blu-Ray discs?
I've searched all over and have not been able to find an answer. There are a few posts that talk about drives but non of them mention whether or not MC will play UHD discs.
I'm able to play regular Blu-Ray discs in MC on my HTPC with AnyDVD installed. I tried a couple of UHDs and AnyDVD reports that they can't be played because of bus encryption.
The closest I've come is the LibreDrive topic over on MakeMKV where flashing the appropriate firmware on my LG WH16NS60 drive will allow me to rip UHD discs.
So will MC work with a LibreDrive to play these discs? Or will I need to rip them and then play from the MKV file?
Thanks...

Yes in my set-up it does when using a 'tweaked' Asus 16D1HT drive.
Playing both the physical disc as also a 'stored' UHDs.
I can also confirm the route you've found is a good one :-)
I'll pm you on his details.
Have fun (watching 4k).

Good to hear!
So will I still need to run AnyDVD with a LibreDrive for UHD dics?
Any impact to playing older 2k Blu-Ray discs?
I've read that it takes MakeMKV to enable LibreDrive, so I really don't understand all the interactions and dependencies.

Anyone?
Am I the only user here that's trying to get 4k UHD disc playback working in MC?

Emmee, pretty sure you aren't the only one using MC vs UHD's :-)
As mentioned, once you've achieved getting a "UHD Friendly" drive, you'll be good with the solution you've got already in place;
Referring to the 'colored animal', their forum is pretty complete incl a complete overview of (un)supported titles.
Talking about my experience, swapped my old BR drive to one ordered from the guy, as mentioned an Asus 16D1HT, and all ready-to-go.
No need for any other update, as RF comes incl UHD's support.
Fyi, i'm using an I9-9900T with a GTX1080 over DP to feed my 4k screen.
Enjoy 4k !

Mans,
Thanks again!
The main problem I've had in getting my HTPC built and set up is finding clear and accurate information. There is indeed a ton of stuff out there but most of it is old, incomplete, confusing and even contradictory. Most of these adjectives also apply to the info I've read on Interact and the MC Wiki (especially old and incomplete).
In the end it looks like setting up MC for video and UHD discs is quite straightforward. It's hard to believe that with all the great talent on the MC team that there aren't some clear guides available to address basic HTPC setup issues.
