I first reported this on the update 28.44 update thread but it was ignored. Hopefully I'll get a response here. At that time I had just upgraded from jr27 to 28.44. My TV recordings will not delete. I just updated to 28.49 and the same things occurs.
On a fresh reboot and start of media center, in Theater View I can go right to the listing of pre-recorded TV shows select it...scroll to delete then I get a list of options including cancel, delete from library, delete file, etc. HOWEVER, after watching just 20 seconds or so of a video....if I select a show file, select delete...no list of options appear and the "Highlighted" portion goes back to the show title in the list. I must reboot in order to be able to delete. But after watcjing a show I can o longer delete.
-
It does not seem to be specific to recorded TV shows. We will look into it.
-
Thank you for your reply.
-
Well, it turns out I am not able to reproduce the issue.
Have you turned on the option "Allow file deletion" in Theater View options?
-
Didn’t know there was such a setting. Have don’t it this way for years and simply upgraded from jr27 to 28 then this problem occurred. Plus, as noted in my initial message, it will let me delete files on a fresh reboot. But after Watch a recording it no longer works.
-
I’m having the same problem since upgrading to version 28. I need to reboot in order to delete a show.
-
I still can't reproduce. Initially I thought I did, but only to find out that that the "Allow file deletion" option was off. After turning it on, I get "Delete" when a file is selected.
-
When you select delete....do you get the options list...."from Library only, from Library and delete file"?....or whatever the list is to confirm you want to delete it? I don't
-
I Have "Allow File Deletion" selected by the way....
-
Yes.
-
Before I reach that screen, I clicked "Delete"
-
Not eworking for me. Once I watch a show I no longer get an options/confirmation screen. I must reboot (or stop jr in task manager) to be able to delete files. Once I watch one...I can no longer delete. It's real!
-
Yes, with the Television advanced option "Offer to delete a recorded show after it is watched" turned on, I get Delete dialog after I watch at least 86% of the show.
-
I don't understand your last comment. I never have used the ask to delete after watching. That is not what I am talkking about. Do you not have a clear understanding of hat is happening on my end?
-
If I could upload a video it might be easier for me to try and explain……pls let me know if you want me to better explain what happens.
-
Once I watch a show I no longer get an options/confirmation screen.
I was responding to this. You watch a TV recording. Then you click Stop. If you have the "Offer to delete..." option on, MC would automatically display the dialog similar to the image I posted earlier. Of course if you have only watched a little of the video, that dialog would not be shown. However, the "Delete" button should always be available.
I may have misunderstood what you meant here. Clearly there is a difference between your situation and mine, be it settings, or system configuration, or something else.
Yeah, if you don't mind, please describe what you experience again.
-
You can put a video on a file server (maybe Google Drive or OneDrive for example) and give a link here.
-
It's a short video.....but shows exactly what happens.

So the Delete button is there, but when you choose it, it does not perform, and then it disappears? Or it is always available, but just does not perform what it is supposed to do?
-
The video shows exactly what happens when you sent the delete button. Nothing! The option screen does not appear.
-
Is this on an MC client or server/stand-alone MC?
-
Also, is this limited to recorded TV shows? Are you able to delete other videos? For example, if you import that screen capture video you posted, will you be able to delete it from Theater View? How about audio files?
-
I am still not able to reproduce the issue unfortunately.
-
I think I got it. It seems to happen when MC is in error free mode.
-
This is occuring on jr server. NOT a client. There are no clients on this server.
It will not delete any movie, audio or recorded tv show files.
I must reboot. It will then let me delete files. BUT AS SOON AS I START WATCHING A VIDEO FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS OR MORE IT BREAKS AMD WILL NOT DELETE. If I then want to delete anything I must reboot.....and can't watch anything.
-
I think it is error free mode. MC is put in error free mode in some cases when playback is done, for example if you play through the WDM driver.
It will be fixed in the next build.
-
Great! Glad you found it. Thank you
-
Thanks for reporting the issue.
Here are the related History items For the next build:
3. Fixed: Theater View recorded TV show delete confirmation, and a whole lot of other confirmation or configuration dialogs related to TV in Theater View, were not showing if MC had been in error free mode.
5. Fixed: Theater View non-TV file deletion confirmation was not shown if MC was in error free mode.
-
And this was another one this turned up:
Changed: Error free mode could save between runs in some cases. Now it's runtime only and always resets.
